Moving On: Why I’m Leaving Some Discord Servers

I have left two discord servers recently, and now I’m planning to leave the server that I created.

Regarding first two, one was a book reading server, and the other was a ‘study with me’ server. In the book reading server, I posted a lot of comments, but there wasn’t much reaction. You might think It was because of the quality of my posts. However, there were few comments in the entire server and few reactions too. As for the ‘study with me’ server, I wasn’t relaxed there; I felt like there was some kind of silent power struggle or unspoken competition going on.

Finally, the server that I made. The members are composed of people who belong to an NPO that supports young people struggling to integrate into society. The people there aren’t very active – few comments, few reactions, – which has been so frustrating for me as an administrator.

Their interests also don’t match mine. My focus now is on studying for qualifications and reintegrating into society. I am also interested in improving my job skills and reading books, which they don’t seem to share an interest in. I hisitate to say this, but it feels like many of them are not educated enough.

I believe I need to find another community, either offline or online, where I feel I truly belong. I know this is difficult, as I have been struggling with it for more than a quarter of a century. However, I think it’s very harmful to depend on a community that I come to dislike and to continue depending on it simply due to a lack of other options.
